SPEAKINGS
and Keynotes

& every hour there after

Full day sessions

In these sessions, Mark showcases his spoken word poetry and freestyle rap skills. The heart of the session however is the story behind where the draw towards this creativity came from. Over the course of an hour, Mark recounts his personal journey delving into what it means to be resilient, combating the negative impacts of bullying in high school, addressing drug and alcohol abuse (including vaping) and nurturing healthy friendships and relationships. At the core of his story is a powerful message about embracing vulnerability and learning what it means to truly love yourself and others.

Depending on the theme or topic requested prior, Mark also speaks on battling PTSD/ depression/anxiety and the addictions and reckless behaviour that manifested as a result. It culminated in a near-death experience that proved to be a pivotal moment for reflection and redirection in Mark’s life. This powerful narrative resonates with audiences nationwide, as evidenced by his impactful keynote address to an audience of 2,500 students at the Perth Convention Centre in 2019.

Drawing on Mark’s songwriting and poetry slam experience, the Rap & Poetry Writing Workshops are designed to engage students of varying literacy levels and capabilities. These workshops are a platform for students to explore their own stories and express them through creative writing.

From ATAR students to Year 7s who may be less familiar with creative writing, the crux of these workshops is in equipping students with the confidence to dive into the creative potential we all possess and get familiar with the stories in their hearts.

Workshops can be customized to meet specific goals, varying from one-hour sessions to a comprehensive full-day. Each session is malleable and can be specially tailored in close collaboration with coordinators to achieve desired outcomes.

Songwriting
and recording workshops

3 x full days sessions

once a week for 10 weeks

The Songwriting and Recording Workshops offer participants an opportunity to record an original song that is theirs forever. This workshop leverages the accessible medium of rap as a gateway to explore the poetry of songwriting and requires no prior musical knowledge from participants.

During these sessions, Mark delves into the therapeutic potential of lyricism - similar to the process of journaling. Participants are encouraged to reference their favourite music, analyzing what resonates with them and using these insights as building blocks to craft their own songs.

Mark provides an original piece of production to complement each composition. Every participant walks away with the song they created and the legitimacy to call themselves a songwriter.

  • “Marksman Lloyd is an incredible wordsmith and a talented performer... His writing workshops supported low literacy students to produce meaningful poetry that they were proud of.
